To showcase the City of Long Beach as a regional and national leader in civic, social, and government innovation
The City of Long Beach is a national leader in civic, social, and government innovation. This day-long event, sponsored by the City of Long Beach, was an opportunity for thought leaders, community members, and professional staff to recognize the outstanding efforts and cutting-edge innovation in the public sector.
There was also a series of other micro-events that happened throughout the month of October for Long Beach’s Innovation Week, which is part of InnovateLA, a celebration of the depth and breadth of innovation and entrepreneurship across LA County.
Ten Civic Innovation Awards were given to various City Departments and community based partners who have demonstrated their ability to implement innovative solutions to some of Long Beach’s pressing challenges.
The goal is to catalyze, evangelize, and to cross-pollinate the various assets we have across Los Angeles County.
– Chris Rico, Director of Innovation for the Los Angeles County Economic
This initiative helped us expand our innovation network and increasing our understanding of the state of innovation in Long Beach.
This event helped us establish a network of assets and people in the tech, civic, startup, and art spaces in Long Beach and beyond.
We openly share what we learned and to learn from the experience of others, so that we can continue to be at the forefront of innovation.
Innovation Week provides an annual opportunity to connect local clusters of entrepreneurs that otherwise wouldn’t come together.
